CNES:
National Center for Space Studies

Background
The French National Space Studie Center is conducting research and development in the field of GPS (Geo Positioning Systems) system efficiency. In that frame, the CNES wants get the necessary tools to make simulation runs in a physically characterized synthetic environment.
The need from CNES focuses on the generation of geo-specific 3D terrain databases, with accurate replication of building and environment, including ouside and inside. The environment, buildings, terrain and vegetation needs to be characterized with physical materials in order to be able to conduct physical simulation. The physical simulation shall take into account the interaction of electromagnetic waves with the environment, depending on the material properties.

Projects objectives
The objectives of the project are the following:

  • Collect onsite data for building generation
  • Collect onsite data for physical material covering
  • Generate the 3D site and building including the inside
  • Perform GPS studies with physical model interactions

    Achievements

  • The ousite of buildings are generated with SE-AGETIM-BUILDING
  • The inside of buildings are generated with SE-AGETIM-INDOOR
  • The buildings are placed on the 3D terrain with SE-AGETIM
